An Introduction

Munnar, perhaps Kerala's best known hill station, is situated at an altitude of 1600 m above sea level and is conveniently reachable from Kochi by road. Annamudi, just a short drive from Munnar town towers at over 2695 m, thus making it the highest peak in India south of the Himalayas. Munnar is extraordinarily verdant and picturesque so small wonder that it is a favourite shooting spot for Bollywood et al.

Munnar is a major tea producing center surrounded by some 30 tea estates owned by Tata Tea.

Eravikulam National Park, 14 km northeast of Munnar, is home to the endangered Nilgi Tahr mountain goat.
